An expensive place to keep my money...

I swear, living and working right above an upscale shopping mall is going to be the death of me! "Window shopping" during lunch hour and on my way in and out of the building is temptation in its purest form XD

So anyway, Prada's latest collection arrived today....and I bought a wallet. Thing is, I don't feel guilty about it at all because I'd initially set aside a budget of RM2000 for a new wallet but the one I got is cheaper than that, so psychologically I feel like I got a bargain (even though it's not).

I actually had my eye on the Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Sarah wallet in Pomme d'Amour, but it was beyond my budget, and difficult to maintain due to the glossy finish making it prone to scratches. It's reeeally pretty though.
I also set out looking for a NON-BLACK wallet, but guess what color my new Prada wallet is? :D You'll see why I bought it in a bit...

Striptease! Fresh off the plane and out of the glass display cabinet...

Ta-da! The exact color I did not want to buy :P
But lookie here! Sooooo purrdy the bright pink leather interior, and the scalloped design of the credit card slots *hearts* I got suckered into buying this wallet thanks to the pretty detailing. It's also super roomy and spacious, but I didn't take pictures of the inside.
Today's work outfit
Black satin work dress - Bangkok
Tank top worn inside - Mango
Tights - H&M
Peeptoe slingbacks - Easy Spirit
"Bottega-inspired" PU woven headband - some stall at Central Market

Manicure of the week - Revlon nail polish in "Frankly Scarlet". I got matching colors for my fingers and toes. Gotta love the cheap mani/pedi's here - THB250 for both!! (approximately RM25/USD8)

Ok I'm off to dinner and debut my new baby now :)

Work Outfit + Hello, Goodbuy!

Hello everyone, it's Wednesday, yay! And that means we are two days away from Friday :) My mum, my uncle and his entire family are coming to visit this weekend, so it's going to be a busy week for me.

Next Tuesday I'll be jetting off to Vietnam for the first time (working of course), and I'm a little excited because my Vietnamese colleague has promised to bring me shopping/eating :D

Last Friday's outfit - my first time meeting upper level management in the Thailand office, so I opted for a more formal look.
Satin sleepshirt, worn as work blouse - Target
Pencil skirt - Mango
Peeptoe slingbacks - Easy Spirit
Bag - Banana Republic

Unfortunately I've run out of accessories to wear because I broke all my favorite necklaces :'(
What happened, you ask? I make it a point to put my purse and laptop bag on the floor in the passenger seat for fear of snatch thieves smashing my window to steal my stuff, so everytime I bend down my necklaces hook on to the handbrake and when I unknowingly straighten up the force just breaks them :(

I embarked on an accessory shopping trip last weekend, but it was unsuccessful because I only returned with two headbands (no pictures cos my camera ran out of battery) and lots of clothes :D

Here are my favorites:

Floral print high-waisted tulip skirt
Satin cocktail mini-dress - this dress is a little loose for me in the waist, so I'll probably get it altered on my next trip back to KL.

Ok, break time's over, I need to get back to work! Working from home today because I need to "study" some documents.

Update at last!

I know it seems like I've dropped off the face of the planet, but I'm still here! I've just been overwhelmed, that's all.

Updates updates - some work outfits, a house tour, and some food porn. Too lazy to type cos my brain isn't functioning properly at the moment.

I've mentioned that I'm currently staying in a serviced apartment, provided by the company for 3 months. Let's just say I'm enjoying it very much - daily room service, living above a shopping mall and 5 minutes away from the office is pretty darn awesome. Of course, it helps that the pad is nice and comfy :)

Living and dining area
I've got a minibar! Spacious kitchen Bedroom - LOOOVE the bed! The plush king sized bed is just right for tiny little me, hahaha.
Bathroom
Handiwork of a VERY meticulous housekeeper, lol.
Some work outfits - I'm more inclined to dress up for work over here because many people are really dressed to the nines for work, and the fact that I don't have to walk enables me to strut around in killer heels.Pleated blouse: Kitschen
Pencil skirt: Mango

Peeptoe slingbacks: Easy Spirit. These are one of my recent acquisitions - I've finally given in to comfort over style and decided to opt for a pair of heels I can actually WALK in (for a few hours, and then my feet swell and start to hurt) :D
Quilted hobo: Bally

Tank top: Gap
Oversized v-neck silk/cotton sweater: Zara
Slim straight cotton pants: Club Monaco
Braided leather belt: Bangkok
Peeptoe slingbacks: Easy Spirit
Bangles: Bangkok

This next outfit is one of my "genius" combinations. I only wore this because I hadn't done any ironing, and didn't bring any of my necklaces with me. Love this! I'll play around with similar styles soon...
Basic long-sleeved tee: Cotton On
Wool slacks: Club Monaco. Super expensive, but worth every penny
Vintage belt: Gift from mum's friend
Silk scarf: gift from a friend
Peeptoe slingbacks: Easy Spirit

On to the food! I'm too lazy to cook here because it's hard to shop for groceries for just one person, and the fact that cheap meals are in abundance.

Frozen meal from the supermarket, which are surprisingly tasty. Japanese pork curry with rice - they use Japanese rice!
The serving size is on the small side, but sufficient for me

Droolworthy dessert from the Mandarin Oriental Bake Shop. Beautiful packaging, beautiful presentation, and oh sooo yummy.

Thick, high-quality paper bag
Beautiful paper box in which the dessert is stored
Orange envol - Creme brulee, orange jelly, and fruit jelly topped with chocolate mousse and sponge cake chunks. MMMMMM!
That's all for now. I will try to update more diligently, now that I've KIND OF settled down. TGIF tomorrow!!!

Back from yet another hiatus

Hello all! In case you're wondering, I did not abandon my blog. I've just been too busy with work and settling down in Bangkok, so updates had to take a back seat.

Anyways, here's a short summary of what's been going on in my life while I was 'gone'.

I finally moved to Bangkok on the 2nd of October - my parents spent the weekend with me, and the following Monday I was officially a Thai employee. Did I mention that I've changed assignments? Instead of working on specific brands, I am now working with specific customers to develop exclusive marketing campaigns. So yeah, in addition to relocating to a foreign country, I also have to adjust to a new assignment - very challenging indeed.

My grandmother passed away last Sunday, so I had to make an emergency trip back home. The funeral was on Thursday, but before that there were four days of prayers. I was really touched by the support and sympathy my boss and co-workers showed towards my situation. I'm writing this post in my bedroom in Malaysia now - and it feels great to be back, even though I have an awesome temporary pad back in Bangkok. There really is no place like home :)

I'm reluctant to buy my return ticket because I'm just soooo tired of flying back and forth. Suffering from travel fatigue right now. Urgh.

Happy weekend everyone! I'll try to post an update with some pictures soon.

Rough Week

I've been working more than 10 hours consecutively for the past 2 days. So many deadlines to meet by noon this Friday, and the packers are coming that afternoon! Arrrgh! It's only Wednesday tomorrow but my brain already feels like a lump of mush.

To make things worse, the dangerously low figures in my bank account are making me grouchy - I hope the accountant processes my expense claims REALLY soon =( Fortunately I've booked myself a facial appointment for tomorrow just to help me relax a little and tie me through the rest of the week.

I'm flying off to Bangkok next Tuesday, but I may come back again on Saturday to attend a cousin's wedding and some important meetings in the Malaysia office. Fingers crossed that LadyBoss approves my leave/travel application!! ^^

For now, all I can dream of is a 2 hour Thai massage........

$0

That's the balance I have in my bank account right now :( I wish those expense claims would just magically transform into cash instead of sitting at the accountant's inbox. URGH!

Going gaga for Kate Spade

I've never really been drawn to Kate Spade until recently when I dropped by the boutique at Gardens and fell in love with their shoe collection. Ever since that fateful day I've been lurking about the Kate Spade website, and now I think I'm hooked to her signature style of mixing cheery pops of color with classic silhouettes. Even the website is a joy to look at :)

Frenchie soft ballet flat $195
Jian quilted ballet flat $198
Susannah Pump $298
I absolutely adore the color and mock croc detail on this pump. Imagine how perfect it would look paired with a simple black or cream outfit! If only it was RM298 and not USD :(

Charter criss-cross detail suede heels $295
Keeden satin pump with bow detail $298

Colin Perforated Suede Sandals $295

Check out their very 50's inspired clothing collection too! LOOOVE the colors, prints, feminine detailing and styling on these....perrfection!

Madeleine Dot Balloon Sleeve Blouse $265
Bisous Bow Trench $645
Would you just look at the lining of this amazing trench! *dies*
Peggy Silk Blouse $225
Deborah Peacoat $645
I think the sudden interest in bright colors was brought upon my current state of mind. Holding a highly stressful job means I tend to seek refuge in pretty, 'happy' objects. I've started developing an interest in cutesy art of all mediums - particularly photography and prints. I also now have the ability tendency to coo over pretty fabrics, paper, stationery, furniture, and decorative items and can just stand in the store admiring them for hours.

Pretty little things to make one's worklife a tad more bearable *hearts*

Bon Vivant Calista $425
:(
This is the perfect laptop bag for me - from the bright obnoxious color right down to the name. "The french term bon vivant (bawn-vee-vahn), describes someone with a strong taste for life's pleasures." Tee hee, talk about being full of myself :D

Westbury Christine Business Card holder $100

Unfortunately, most of these things don't come cheap so I just resort to window shopping rather than 'impulse purchasing'. I think this 'girly' phase is also much healthier (though not necessarily for my wallet) than resorting to booze and ciggies :)

How do you escape from the stress and tension of everyday life?
